About us

Ending pet homelessness one policy at a time.

At our core, we believe that no pet parent should have to face the agonizing decision of choosing between the care their adopted pet needs and what they can afford. We also found that when shelter pets are protected by health insurance, they’re 40% less likely to be returned to a shelter due to a medical issue. As insurance experts, we saw a connection between these two experiences. So, we decided to do something about it.

We created Companion Protect.

We’re not just insurance experts — we’re pet parents, just like you. When we experienced the pet insurance industry firsthand, we saw that it was seriously broken. Too much complexity. Too many frustrating gotchas. Too many exceptions that leave pet parents stuck facing terrible decisions regarding care for their four-legged fur babies. All to often that means giving up adopted pets to shelters that are already overwhelmed.

Since 2015, our focus at Companion Protect has been to support pet parents, animal shelters, and rescues in their shared vision of ensuring long, healthy, happy lives for pets. It’s our belief that through affordable plans that provide comprehensive coverage for all breeds, we can create a future where pets remain in homes with the people who love them.

That is all we do, and we’re passionately committed to our mission.

We’ve disrupted the pet insurance industry to make it really work for pet parents and their adopted BFFs. Because all anyone should ever have to think about is the health and happiness of their pet— not whether to give them the care they need.
